HISTORY

ABOUT US

Delta Epsilon Mu was founded on the grounds of Binghamton University in New York during the spring semester of 1996. Delta Epsilon Mu was initiated with the goal of uniting students interested in entering various health professions. The founding fathers united their interests in building a professional co-educational, pre-health fraternity that would serve Binghamton University students by exposing them to professionals from various health fields. They wanted to inform students about current health issues with the intent of helping students choose a field of interest following graduation and beyond. A large part of the fraternity’s interests were focused on serving the community by uniting people of different age groups, ethnicities, religions and ideologies under the common interest of health.

Seventeen Aggies of the founding class crossed over on April 15, 2012, creating the Lambda Chapter of Delta Epsilon Mu. The Lambda Chapter became the 9th chapter in the fraternity and the first in the state of Texas.  Those actives crossed an Alpha Class fourteen members strong on November 10, 2012.  The chapter currently boasts 60 actives and 36 alumnus.

OUR PHILANTHROPY

Our philanthropy for the 2017-2018 school year is Camp for All. Camp for All is a barrier-free camp based out of Burton, Texas, which serves as a recreational site for children with special needs and disabilities. Through partnerships with various organizations, Camp for All has been used by children with challenges ranging from cerebral palsy to severe burns to 22q deletion syndrome. The camp allows children to come and experience life in a light-hearted, fun environment where the challenges they face on a daily basis are able to be forgotten, and where the question is no longer what they can’t do but what they can do.
